Vacation time has arrived... it's time to hit the highway to the sun and your feet on the warm sand. Before you leave, here are a few tips to ensure your phone survives this hectic period without breaking a sweat.
Let's fight the invaders!
- Grains of sand: Thin enough to get everywhere. Grains of sand can play two harmful roles: scratch your screen and interfere with your connectors. Our advice: don't leave your phone lying around at the bottom of your bag if you want to keep your screen intact and be able to charge it properly. A little extra: equip yourself with tempered glass that will overlap your screen and strengthen it. As for the back cover, it's always recommended to wrap your smartphone in a protective case.
- Water Splashes (or the Deep Dive): We've always told you: water and electronics don't mix. Water can cause oxidation of your device, meaning moisture-related damage to your smartphone's components. This damage reduces the conduction of electricity. If your phone has fallen into water, here are the first steps to take:
- Remove it from the water;
- Turn off the device;
- Remove the battery;
- Remove peripherals (SIM and SD cards);
- Dry the outside of the phone with a towel, making sure that the water runs off (with the connectors facing downwards).
WARNING! These tips do not guarantee that your phone will work properly: everything depends on the oxidation it has undergone.
Let's avoid being careless!
- Prolonged exposure to the blazing sun : It's clear that extreme heat can damage your device. But why? While almost all of your phone's components are designed to withstand temperatures of up to 70°C, its battery, on the other hand, can generate heat and quickly exceed this limit. Two scenarios can arise:
- Forgetting your smartphone in your car, in a shaded parking lot. If it's turned off, the extreme heat won't damage your device too much.
- Forgetting your smartphone on your towel at the beach. Be careful! The more you use your device, the more likely you are to damage it. Our advice: turn it off as soon as possible and, of course, put it in the shade to cool down.
Last but not least, the most important piece of advice: on vacation, disconnect!
